Please tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a homeschooling mother of four kids age seven and under. My husband also works from home and we enjoy a slow, different lifestyle from a lot of families today. We’re all home most of the time and we try to minimize how many outside activities we’re running off to each week. A family this size still keeps us busy though. On the rare occasion that I have free time I enjoy reading, running, hiking, music, art, and Netflix.
Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?
I started my blog The Live-In Kitchen four years ago as a creative outlet. I was raising babies all day and wanted something that used a bit more of my brain and various skills. I went to school for English, art, and digital media, and had developed a love for cooking during my first few years of marriage. Food blogging seemed like the perfect fit for me. My life can get pretty messy, and I like to keep it real by sharing simple, family friendly recipes.
Where do you find most of your inspiration?
I don’t get a lot of opportunities to travel, but when I do I find a lot of inspiration from that. I love to travel in a way that mimics how someone living in that place would interact with it. Finding locals’ favorite restaurants often leads to inspiring dishes. My family lives in a place without a lot of high end restaurants, so I like to try find a simple way to recreate restaurant quality at home.
Can you explain a recent project you’ve been working on?
I’m hoping to get into a more regular blogging schedule as my baby gets a little older. I’ve been working on a lot of quick and easy meals that fit into busy family lifestyles. I can’t wait to share my recipe for Mediterranean Goodie Bowls soon!
